Hornsey Steel Panels and Sections Ltd is a family run UK business, proudly manufacturing roofing and cladding solutions made with pride in Britain.
Our roots go back to 1970, when Chris and Mark Hornsey rented an army hut on Condover Industrial Estate and, with the help of two female welders, started producing what was known as The Fifty Bob Farm Gate (£2.50).
By 1975, they had purchased a factory and a steel corrugating machine to complement their gate business. 1980 saw the awarding of a major contract for corrugated sheets from British Coal. By 1985, they had a workforce of 120 people and a turnover of £20,000,000 (the equivalent of £65,000,000 today), making them the largest gate manufacturer in the United Kingdom, producing over 3,000 items per week.
1989 saw the sale of the gate business, with Chris Hornsey moving into the industrial property sector. Working on his own, Mark Hornsey moved back into sheeting manufacture in 1992, with the idea of keeping it as a small cottage industry. The business flourished, and in 2000 relocated to new premises in the rural village of Bucknell, Shropshire.
By 2014, the business had evolved and Mark passed it on to his son, Samuel Hornsey, who was at the time competing in the British and World Supersport Championship. Samuel Hornsey had the vision, drive and determination to take the business forward to become what it is today.
In 2024, Hornsey Steel Panels and Sections Ltd relocated to a brand new 2,250 square metre purpose built facility here in Bucknell, Shropshire, where the business continues to thrive as an integral part of the local rural economy.
